How do we respond to God? I can sum it up in less than 30 seconds..
Here we go: We respond with “Yes and Amen”.
That is it, no other response is needed, just “Yes and Amen”.
So if all the promises he makes are “Yes and Amen” and in scripture he promises to guide us and to lead us, what is there to fear?
God has plans for us and He wants us to carry out those plans with an attitude of honesty, humility, love and mercy.
However we must be sure it is God before we say “Yes and Amen”.
We must test the calling as we did when God called us to follow him. We must pray about it, share it with our brothers and sisters, read in the Bible what God wants of us. Does the calling fit into what we know of God?
Once all this is done then we can say “Yes and Amen”.
But don’t let your prayers become an excuse for procrastination, don’t let the fears and lack of faith of those you share with become an excuse for inaction.
If you are sure its God then its very easy quite simple really: “Yes and Amen”.
There is one thing I want to make clear on responding to God’s calling if you profess to follow Jesus: If you have answered that call and are following that call then you are called, not commanded to do these things.
If you are not doing these things because you think it is not your calling return to your Bibles.
I am not going to list the countless verses where Jesus clearly states answering the call to follow Him is to do these things, it is the calling of every single Christian!
These things are not a matter of choice or a suggestion, if you are called to follow Jesus you are called to do these things!
To make this easier how do we respond to Jesus call to follow Him? by doing these things above anything else. He expects us to answer this call. In fact he demands we answer this call with “Yes and Amen”.
On top of this we are called to specific roles, the Bible tells us we all have purpose. We all have work to do for the kingdom.
God called you from where you were to where you are; He does not make mistakes.
Just the fact He called should tell you that you can, with his help and guidance, carry out all you’ve been called to do in Jesus for the Kingdom.
I have a good quote from Matt Chandler, one of my favourite pastors to watch, he says this:
“Remember you have been called to progress, not perfection.”
How do we respond to GODS call? “Yes and Amen”.
I want to leave you with pastor Matt chandler’s take on what we are all called to be and do in Christ Jesus.. not some of us but all of us!
